Activities
Weeks of Welcome
Weeks of Welcome provides students with an opportunity to join the UBC community and explore all that UBCO has to offer. During the month of September, campus resources, clubs and course unions host a variety of events to help students make connections on campus.
Indigenous Centre
Indigenous Centre provides a sense of belonging and community to First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students. This home away from home is committed to enriching the quality of the student experience for Indigenous students by promoting access, providing capacity building opportunities, and celebrating success.
Global Education Week
Global Education Week is an opportunity for the UBCO community to learn about all the ways they can engage around the world. As part of Global Education Week, the Global Engagement Office runs several interactive events and presentations to recognize our international study body, intercultural learning, promote study abroad opportunities and highlight internationalization efforts on the Okanagan campus.
Collegia
The Collegia program provides three distinct spaces where commuter students can take a break between classes to socialize, study, use a kitchen, or relax in a friendly and welcoming environment.
New student orientations
UBC 101
UBC 101 launches each year in mid-May and features 14 weeks of content related to getting familiar with UBCO, course registration, relocating, health & wellbeing, academic integrity, EDI, and other topics that support students in their transition over the summer leading up to their first term. There were also Student Connector – Transition Specialists student staff who were responsible for creating community and providing additional supports to new students.

INDIGENOUS STUDENT ORIENTATION
Indigenous Student Orientation is open to all First Nation (status and non-status), Metis, and Inuit students new to UBC’s Okanagan Campus. The program is designed to help undergraduate and graduate students prepare for a successful start at UBC and develop connections and meaningful relationships.
JUMP START
Jump Start is a multi-day enhanced orientation designed to introduce students to university life, their faculty, and new friends. The program is open to all first-year students entering UBC directly from high school. Jump Start helps students make friends, get organized for the start of term, and prepare to learn in a university environment.
